Sugar & Spice Candied Nuts

Rose McAvoy
Candied nuts are so easy to make. Set these out for guests to nibble at a party or package them to make sweet gifts for teachers, neighbors, or holiday hosts. The combination of cinnamon, ginger and cloves smells like Christmas. The recipe is designed to use a single Costco sized jar of mixed nuts, makes enough for sharing and can be reduced if needed. Ingredients

  • 2 ½ lbs 9 cups unsalted fancy mixed nuts (or the nut of your choosing)
  • 6 cups powdered sugar
  • 4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 3 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 2 teaspoon sea salt
  • 1 ½ teaspoon ground cloves
  • 6 tablespoon vodka

Instructions

  • Line two baking pans with parchment paper.
  • In a large soup pot - pour in the nuts then top with the remaining ingredients. Cook over medium high heat. Stir constantly with a wooden spoon - the mixture will begin powdery, turn syrupy, then become very thick and sticky (10-15 minutes). Remove from the heat when most of the the liquid has evaporated.
  • Turn the candied nuts onto the lined baking sheets and spread into an even layer. Allow the nuts to cool completely before serving or packaging.
